Y-01 Swing

Stand with the legs about the width of your shoulders, and the arms spread horizontal to the ground, palms facing down. Inhale. Now keeping the body rigid from the hips down (facing front), exhale and twist the upper part of the body round to the right. Turn everything – head, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, waist etc. – and look behind you as far as you can. Then swing back to center inhaling, and to the opposite side exhaling. This movement can be done more quickly than most yoga exercises.

Swing back and forth with the breath at your own rhythm of as many times as you like.

Contraindications: Serious lower back problems

Benefits: This movement gives twisting flexibility to the spine and prepares us for the «torsion» (done lying down) and the «spinal twist» (sitting up). All these twisting movements are useful at correcting and preventing alignment problems in the spine – especially in the lumbar region (lower back pains).

Because of its aligning action on the spine, many other disorders which are the result of spinal blockages can be corrected. It is prescribed for liver, kidney and spleen problems.
